Grass Fed- Grass Finished Beef

At A & M Family Farms, raising beef is more than a business — it’s part of our life as a family. Every day we care for the land and the cattle entrusted to us, believing that when animals are raised well and the soil is stewarded faithfully, the food that comes from it reflects that care.

Our cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished, grown here in Pleasant Hill at our farm and a partner ranch in Creswell, Oregon. They graze naturally, move freely, and grow at the pace nature intended. When the seasons change and pasture is less abundant, we simply keep them on a grass-based diet with grass pellets, hay, and alfalfa to carry them through. We do not grain-finish, and we do not rely on growth hormones or antibiotics. Instead, we focus on healthy pasture, attentive care, and low-stress handling — because healthy cattle produce better beef.

You can taste the difference, but you can also feel good about how it was raised.

Grass-finished beef is not only flavorful, it is naturally nutrient-dense. Because our cattle eat a grass-based diet, naturally contains higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids and CLA compared to conventionally grain-finished beef, along with important nutrients like vitamin E, B-vitamins, iron, zinc, and selenium. It’s a complete protein source, providing all the essential amino acids your body needs for strength, growth, and repair. Many families choose grass-fed beef not only for its rich, clean flavor, but because it supports a more balanced and wholesome approach to nutrition.

We believe animal welfare and food quality go hand in hand. Cattle are designed to thrive on grass, under open skies, with room to roam and graze. By keeping them on pasture, we allow them to live in a way that supports both their well-being and the health of the land. Rotational grazing helps maintain strong root systems in our fields, encourages soil vitality, and sustains the farm for future generations.

Our beef is available year-round at our farm stand, where you’ll find a variety of individual cuts ready for your table. For families looking to fill their freezer, we also offer quarter and half beef shares, processed local. Buying a share is a practical and economical way to enjoy high-quality, farm-direct beef throughout the year.

When you purchase from A & M Family Farms, you’re not just buying beef — you’re supporting a local family committed to responsible farming, thoughtful animal care, and nourishing food raised with integrity.

From our pasture to your table, we’re grateful to serve you.

How Beef Shares Work

Buying a beef share is a great way to buy bulk beef direct from a farm and processor — often at better value than retail grocery meat. Here’s a step-by-step outline:

1. Reserve & Pay a Deposit

  • You put down a deposit to reserve a ¼, ½, or whole beef.

  • This holds your place for processing and helps us plan.

2. Animal is Harvested & Sent to a processor

  • We take the animal to a local meat processor once the beef is ready.

  • A “processor” is a USDA-licensed facility that slaughters, ages, cuts, and packages the beef for you.

3. Choosing Cuts (halves or wholes only)

  • You will receive a call from the processor to determine how you want your beef cut — thickness of steaks, how much ground beef, roasts, bones, organ meats, etc.

  • 1/4’s are “standard cut” only. The processor will cut the meat in the most efficient way possible with most premium cuts possible. It is roughly 1/3 steaks, 1/3 roast, 1/3 ground

4. Final Payment

  • After the animal is processed, we will calculate your final cost based on actual hanging weight, and you pay the remainder.

  • Final payment will include processing fees.

5. Pickup Your Beef

  • Once packaged and frozen, you pick up your beef directly from our farm.
